Amplifying Narratives By Supporting Playwrights and Works for the Stage
Founded in 1971 the Playwrights’ Center (PWC) is one of the nation’s most generous and well-respected theater organizations, serving 2,500 member playwrights worldwide. Over the past half century, PWC has supported playwrights in sustaining their creative lives financially and professionally, and promoted and facilitated the production of a wide variety of new work for the stage throughout the country.
As demand for PWC’s services expanded, so did the need for a larger, more flexible working space. In 2025, that dream was realized with the opening of a new home. The building was thoughtfully designed, incorporating a large light filled public gathering area, a rehearsal studio and classroom space with state of the art technology, and an elaborate theater complete with seating for approximately 135 patrons.
The Olseth Family Foundation believes live theater has the capability to open hearts and minds through emotive storytelling; thus, we were pleased to be a part of bringing this new building to fruition. With the PWC’s success launching the careers of numerous nationally recognized artists, including Daniel Alexander Jones, Lee Blessing, Carlyle Brown, Sheila Callaghan, Karl Gadjusek, Marcus Gardley, Idris Goodwin, Sarah Gubbins, Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Craig Lucas, Martyna Majok, Melanie Marnich, Qui Nguyen, Kira Obolensky, and August Wilson, we cannot wait to see who will be the next award-winning talent.
